Flashback The history of the former Jakarta Kemayoran Airport,is one of the relics of the
colonial era. We can see from a historical perspective the
establishment of Kemayoran Airport in Jakarta from several bibliographical sources
that have been recorded. That KemayoranAirport was once one of the First
International Aviation Airports in Indonesia.

Historical
evidence of Kemayoran Airport, which was built in 1934, was officially
opened on July 8, 1940, although it was recorded that on July 6,
1940, Kemayoran airport had started operating with the first aircraft
to land the DC-3 Dakota type belonging to the Dutch East Indies airline
company, KNILM. ( Koningkelije Nederlends Indische Luchvaart Maatschapii)
which was flown from Tjililitan airfield (now Halim Perdanakusuma).
This aircraft was
recorded operating in Kemayoran until the end of the operation
period. The airport with the code JKT stopped operating on January 1, 1983,
and officially stopped operating on June 1, 1984. Meanwhile, since
1975 international flights have been temporarily diverted at Halim
Perdanakusuma Airport. The entry of the Japanese colonial period in 1942-1945
which continued with the reign of the Dutch NICA until it was finally
managed by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in 1950. And in the
end in 1958 (Djawatan Civil Aviation) Kemayoran Airport was handed over to
be managed by a state company "Angkasa". Pura"
Kemayoran
in 1960. And the management of Kemayoran Airport carried out
by BMUN changed its name to "Perum Angkasa
Pura I" until the end of operation
of Kemayoran Airport in 1984.
During the Dutch Government 1940-1942 Kemayoran Airport
was managed as an International Airport. And its management was trusted by
KNILM by the Dutch
government until
the Japanese colonial period. Two days before the inauguration
on July 6, 1940, the first aircraft to land was a DC-3
belonging to KNILM which
was flown from Tjililitan airfield (now Halim
Perdanakusuma). The DC-3 aircraft with PK-AJW registration was also the first
to depart from
Kemayoran Airport for Australia a day later. On the day
of its inauguration,
KNILM held several of its aircraft. On the Apron there
are DC-2 Univer, DC-3 Dakota, Foker F-VIIb 3m, Grumman G-21 Goose, de
Havilland, DH-89 Dragon Rapid, and Lockheed L-14 Super Electra aircraft. And
about two months later KNILM brought in new aircraft such as the Douglas
DC-5 and the Sikorsky S-43 Babby Clipper. The journey and development of
Kemayoran Airport entered Indonesia's historic
phases from the
reign of the Dutch East Indies, the occupation of Japan to
the period of Indonesian independence, especially in the
aviation world, from civilian aircraft to military aircraft with piston
engines, propellers, and turbojets that have landed at Kemayoran Airport.
The planes that have landed at the airport at Kemayoran Airport from Fokker
F-VIIb-3 aircraft with a piston engine, Fokker Freindship with turbo engine to
Fokker F-28 with jet engine, Aircraft type DC-3 Dakota, Early generation wide
body aircraft such as the Boeing 747 200 series, Aircraft type DC-10, and
Airbus A-300. And military planes that have landed at the Kemayoran Airport
airfield include: Aircraft Type Glenn Martin B-10 and B-12, Koolhoven FK51
aircraft type, Brewster F-2 Buffalo aircraft type, Lochkeed L-18 Lodestar
aircraft type, Type of aircraft Curtless F-36 Hawk, Type of aircraft Fakker CX,
and Type of aircraft Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. We do not escape the
historical record of coverage of dark events that we got from several
media news sources that in the world of aviation at Kemayoran Airport.
Among other things, the Beechcraft type aircraft had an accident when
landing at Kemayoran Airport, then the Convair340 type aircraft that landed
without wheels, the DC-3 type aircraft that caught fire, and the DC-9 type
aircraft which suffered a broken body when landing on the runway.
The
Fokker F-27 during take-off dived and swerved downwards until it burst into
flames during a practice flight. And it was also
recorded in the world
of flights from Kemayoran Airport that an airplane that once took off from
this airport but never returned home.
Some
historical records that we have collected from several sources,
bibliography and media by several drafting teams who
initiated the establishment
of the National Museum of Kemayoran Airport Jakarta to
share information and

recorded in this history can be
immortalized in an ornament and diorama in a museum
